Developing Life Skills

In service and civilian life, self confidence, resilience, social skills and teamwork are as important as technical skills and leadership. At 41F Squadron the Adventure Training team is responsible for delivering challenging and safe activities which develop these qualities in our cadets and staff. We have a number of highly trained and very experienced staff members who are passionate about passing on their skills, training and knowledge to the next generation of cadets.

Venture, Adventure

The Air Training Corps Motto is "Venture Adventure" and one of the Corps stated aims is "To foster a spirit of adventure and to develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship”.  Each year we are involved in an ambitious programme, continuously expanding the range of activities we take part in and extending the scope and scale of our activities to include something for everyone.  This year we are again running Adventure Training camps that include, climbing, sea kayaking, hill walking, mountain biking, high ropes and raft building.

Map Reading and Navigation

41F Squadron is the best place to learn how to read a map and to navigate accurately by day and by night.  We can train you so you can navigate safely and accurately across the bleak featureless bits of the high moor on Dartmoor with extraordinary accuracy.  Impressing your family with your newly learned skills around the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills will be a doddle!  We also deliver the National Navigation Award Scheme which gives you a structured training plan.

You’ll learn from experienced and qualified instructors who will guide you through the essentials of map reading in a focused and structured way. You’ll gain confidence and by the end of your training, you’ll be able to plan suitable walking routes and navigate around them with confidence.
